The good folks over at io sono Boudoir gave us a very sweet writeup on their blog the other day.

With our fun, elegant theme rooms as a backdrop and Spa Maxx to provide luxurious pampering to ensure you look your best, The Campbell Hotel is the perfect setting for a glamorous photo shoot, as our friends at io sono attest here.

Whether you’re looking for the perfect gift for your significant other or just want to feel pretty yourself, consider a photo shoot with io sono.

Here’s a picture from their blog:

Here, our awesome esthetician, Debbie, helps io sono client Ashtan get ready for her closeup.

If you’re interested in a photo session, visit io sono’s website – and, of course, if you’re just looking for a great place to get ready for a big night out, call Spa Maxx at (918) 744-5500.

Our lobby provided the backdrop this morning for a feature that will appear on Channel 2′s The List. Katie Lieberman of reStyled Threads talked about the upscale consignment boutique’s spring show, which will be held April 11-14 here at The Campbell Hotel.

Here are a few pictures from her interview this morning:

reStyled Threads is an upscale consignment boutique that allows participants to sell unwanted clothing, shoes, and accessories; buy designer items at a fraction of their normal retail cost; and help the environment in the process by recycling these items instead of throwing them away and buying new.

“ReStyled Threads offers a new approach to consigning your gently used clothes,” co-founder Katie Fox said in a news release. “It made sense to host the event at a historic hotel that has been restyled itself.”

reStyled Threads is looking for consignors for the spring event. For more information about consigning items, click here.

The List airs at 6:30 p.m. on KJRH.

Did you remember that today is Valentine’s Day? If you forgot, don’t go scrambling for those tired old truck-stop roses just yet. We’ve got a better idea that just might fool your significant other into thinking you spent a lot of time sitting around thinking up a brilliant plan to impress her.

First, pick up the phone and call us at (918) 744-5500 to reserve one of our gorgeous rooms. Add the deluxe romance package, and you’ll find chocolate-covered strawberries, champagne, and a dozen roses waiting for you in your room when y’all arrive. We’re booked up solid for tonight, but if you hurry, there are still a couple of rooms available for this weekend, or you can just pick up a gift certificate and tell her you thought she’d rather pick her own date instead of conforming to Madison Avenue’s schedule. (Bonus points if you suggest the anniversary of your first date. Women LOVE it when you remember stuff like that. If you’ve forgotten what day that was, bribe her best friend to find out for you.)

Next, play her something like this:

Trust me on this: Chicks dig Neil Diamond. Especially Neil Diamond singing “Play Me” live in concert. Don’t believe me? Go to his next show and count the panties on the stage after he sings this. If she’s not impressed by a night at The Campbell and young, hot Neil Diamond singing “Play Me” live in concert sometime around 1974, you probably need to reconsider your relationship, because that girl ain’t right.

Just kidding. Sort of. Maybe. But seriously: A gift certificate to The Campbell will get you out of a LOT of trouble if you’re just now getting around to shopping for Valentine’s Day. And if your relationship isn’t quite to that luxury-hotel-with-all-the-bells-and-whistles point yet … well, we have Spa Maxx gift certificates, too. Hook her up with a pedicure and a massage. She’ll love it, and she’ll love your thoughtfulness.

Judging from the status updates coming across my Facebook feed this morning, “thoughtful, sensitive guy” is way better than “dork who forgot Valentine’s Day and rustled up something crummy at the last second.”

You’re welcome. ;)

Attention, Route 66 travelers: The intersection of 11th Street (Route 66) and Yale Avenue is … well, frankly, a mess. The good news is that the city is putting in some cool new Route 66-themed streetscaping that will probably look awesome when it’s finished. The bad news is that the construction zone necessitated by this work is a little confusing. Not impassable, but definitely worth slowing down and paying attention.

If you slow down, pay close attention to the signs that have been put up to direct you, and drive sensibly, you should be fine, but if you’re concerned about it, you have a couple of detour options.

Detour 1: Take Sheridan Avenue north to Admiral Place, follow Admiral west to Harvard, and take Harvard south to 11th. (Eastbound travelers, reverse these directions, obviously.) Admiral was part of Route 66 in its early days, so you’ll still catch part of the old road, and just south of Admiral, Harvard runs right past Ann’s Bakery, which has some of the best pastries in town, so there’s that.

Detour 2: Take Sheridan Avenue south to 15th Street, follow 15th west to Harvard, and take Harvard north to 11th. (Eastbound travelers, you know the drill, right?)

If you want to eat at Tally’s but don’t want to mess with the construction zone, take Sheridan to 15th, then follow Yale north. About half a block shy of 11th, you’ll see a teachers’ supply store on your left, with a big parking lot next to it. If you turn in at that parking lot, you can drive around the back of the building to reach the Tally’s parking lot while avoiding most of the construction mess. Just use caution as you leave the parking lot, as you may encounter some confusion when you try to get back onto 11th.

If you’re tired after all that driving, give us a call at (918) 744-5500 or visit www.thecampbellhotel.com to book a room. Don’t forget to ask for the Route 66 travelers’ discount to receive 20 percent off your room!

… we’ll be at the Tulsa Women’s Living Expo all weekend! We have cookies and cool Spa Maxx goodies, including nail files, bags, water bottles, back massagers, chapsticks, and hand sanitizers. Brett will be on hand some of the time to give dollar-a-minute chair massages, and Katie will be answering questions, with help from Debbie, Diane, Susie, and the rest of the Campbell Hotel crew.

The festivities run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Don’t miss it!

Judging from some of her Facebook posts, Katie is having a lot of fun over there. This was what she shared with us this morning:

We don’t think she took any of the wine with her to the expo, but we’re pretty sure she’s had waaaaay too much sugar. It looks as if she could use some adult supervision. Think maybe some of y’all could head over there and keep an eye on her for us? ;)

The crew at Spa Maxx had fun (probably altogether too much fun!) yesterday afternoon when Average Dan from Fox 23 showed up to shoot a quick video for our upcoming “Daily Deal” promotion.

Dan got to sample a little of everything: hairstyling, massage, pedicure, manicure, facial, and even a sip of wine. We had a lot of fun with him, and we think Audra might have a future as a director if she ever gets tired of styling hair. Here are a couple of quick photos from his visit:

We had so much fun laughing with him that Audra and I came up with a great new marketing idea: Spa Maxx reality show on YouTube. This would basically involve the Spa Maxx staff and our awesome clients saying terribly witty (and probably wildly inappropriate) things while looking beautiful and drinking a lot of wine.

Be sure to keep an eye on Fox 23 next week so you don’t miss the Daily Deal. The website is here.

Also, don’t miss the Women’s Living Expo out at the QuikTrip Center this weekend! It starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday afternoon. We’ll be there, handing out cookies and cool Spa Maxx swag. Come by, say hello, learn all about Spa Maxx and The Campbell Hotel, and snag a glass nail file, a water bottle, or one of our other fun signature items while you’re there. Details are here. The whole show looks like fun — especially that mac-and-cheese throwdown and the appearance by our hot firefighters.

Our friends at CB Richard Ellis|Oklahoma loaned us a fascinating collection of photos to share with you.

The commercial real estate firm has its offices in what was once the Kewanee Oil Company headquarters at 1401 S. Boulder. The Kewanee building is a significant piece of history from Tulsa’s oil boom days, so of course we were thrilled when CBRE loaned us the building file for the mid-century structure. Here are a few images from the building’s early days. Those of us of a certain age will find a bit of nostalgia lurking in these photos scanned from the file; for the younger set, these images may provide a fun peek into another era.

Raising the walls. Check out those gorgeous vehicles parked out front.

How great is this kitchen? Love the uber-futuristic stainless steel cabinets, shiny chrome fixtures, and classic refrigerator. What a cool place for a coffee break.

Look closely to see the unusual bathroom fixtures.

When did they stop making those ashtrays with the sandbag bases? (And when was the last time you saw one on a conference table?)

Those drapes in the background might be the greatest thing ever.
