Sorry for our extended silence here on the blog. We had some technical difficulties to sort out, and we just got everything back to normal yesterday afternoon.
Anyway, here’s what we’ve been up to lately:
1. Getting ready for First Friday. We’ve got Chris Riley playing at The Campbell Lounge from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5. That’s a week from Friday, so be sure to mark your calendar and stop by to unwind with a drink and listen to some great music after work that night.
2. Construction. Oh, my goodness, the construction around here — wow! Aaron’s crew has been busy renovating the Wiemann Building across the street from the hotel, which means the P.R. office has been inundated with all sorts of crazy thumping and bumping and sawing and hammering as the guys whip the building into shape. It’s pretty exciting to watch a piece of history come back to life. Meanwhile, over in the Max Campbell Building, work has begun on the space that eventually will house a restaurant. It’s too early to set an opening date, but the guys are making progress, and we’re looking forward to watching this project take shape. Stay tuned; we’ll post details as we get ‘em.
3. Getting psyched up for Leon Russell’s birthday. Leon is coming to town for a birthday concert at the Brady Theater on Saturday, April 6, and our friends at BOB-FM are giving away a pair of front-row tickets to the show and a night in our awesome Leon Russell room here at The Campbell. Click here to see the room; click here to find out more about the contest. If you don’t win, you can always buy a pair of tickets and book a different room for that night. Leon puts on a great show. Don’t tell anybody, but I might be secretly in love with him.
4. Travel. Your favorite hotel blogger (I am your favorite, right?) just got back from a four-day road trip to Illinois to visit family, tour a couple of fabulous historic buildings, and sing ’60s folk revival tunes with my 6-year-old nephew, who is learning to zip when he moves and bop when he stops and whir when he stands still.
So … what have y’all been up to since our last post?
