Mark your calendar: Desi and Cody are coming to The Campbell Lounge this Friday!
If you haven’t heard them yet, you need to know that Desi and Cody — a.k.a. Desirae Roses and Cody Clinton — are two of the best musicians in Tulsa. Their website describes their music as “folk-inspired bluegrass melodies with a rock-based sound,” which is probably as good a description as anything we’re likely to come up with.
Cody, of Cody Clinton and The Bishops, started doing solo work after Leon Russell hired Bishops guitarist Beau Charron. Cody brought in Desirae Roses to sing harmony on a couple of songs on his EP “Dog Days Comin’” (available at local stores, including the awesome Vinyl Countdown, which is a block south of the traffic circle at 11th and Elgin). He later produced Desi’s solo EP, “In the Dead of Summer,” which showcases her striking voice, which is hard to describe but easy to love. It’s kind of like what you’d get if you crossed Patsy Cline with Mama Cass, except she rocks harder than either of the above. Awesome stuff.
Here’s the best part: They’re playing at The Campbell for free from 6 to 8 p.m. this Friday, March 1. What a great way to kick off your weekend — stop by after work, grab a drink, and unwind in our gorgeous lobby while you listen to a couple of local artists who are carrying on Tulsa’s proud tradition of world-class musical talent.
Seriously: You don’t want to miss this. And if you don’t live in Tulsa — well, we are, after all, a hotel. Book a room and escape for the weekend. (As always, reservations are available by calling (918) 744-5500 or visiting www.thecampbellhotel.com.)
