Here at the Campbell, we try to provide a great experience for all our guests, with plenty of services and amenities to make their stay as comfortable and convenient as possible.
One service we provide is airport shuttles. The neat thing about doing shuttle runs, from our perspective, is that you never know who you’re going to meet. Every shuttle is a chance to make a new friend, learn something new, or share something cool about Tulsa to make a visitor’s experience more fun.
One recent shuttle run introduced us to a creative new friend: Susan Gainen, a visual artist from St. Paul, Minn., who designs intricate, heavily geometric watercolor paintings inspired by her extensive travels.
During the drive back to the hotel, Ms. Gainen mentioned that she enjoys traveling by rail and driving down side streets, because she gets to see the parts of a community a casual traveler might never see — so of course our shuttle run promptly veered off its usual efficient course and turned into a guided tour of downtown Tulsa, Route 66, and the Pearl District.
We love it when that happens.
Ms. Gainen graciously shared her website address with us so we could share it with you. Here is some of her amazing artwork:
Isn’t this beautiful? It’s available as a blank notecard, too.
This one was a finalist in the Exhibitions Without Walls ABSTRACTIONS Competition. Very cool.
This elaborate dragon is part of her “Small Friends” collection.
You can see more of her work online at http://susangainen-nanoscapes.com. Be sure to click on the “portfolio” tab — and if you’re an Art Deco enthusiast, prepare to be dazzled by some of her symmetrical geometric designs, which are reminiscent of the fabulous patterns on the ceiling in the Philcade.
Of course, you don’t have to be an award-winning visual artist to get personal service here at The Campbell Hotel. Whatever your talent, and whatever your interests, we’d love to meet you and share our amazing city with you. We’ll even pick you up at the airport.
