There is a great misconception among some Route 66 travelers where cities are concerned. While those of us who have explored the old road from end to end know better, a lot of newbies tend to assume that larger cities are going to be more trouble than they’re worth.
That couldn’t be farther from the truth — especially in Tulsa, where traffic is relatively light, the road is easy to follow, and the attractions are plentiful. The stretch of Route 66 from Catoosa to Sapulpa is one of the most rewarding spots on the entire road, loaded as it is with interesting history, gorgeous architecture, fun kitsch, unusual shops, and every imaginable kind of cuisine from barbecue to sushi to chicken-fried steak.
We put together this little video to give you a virtual cruise down Route 66 — culminating, of course, in a visit to the Campbell.
